Ten hours, and 4 train transfers later we arrived at the Interlaken, Switzerland station. We made our trek towards the hostel where we had made reservations (more on that later), hoping (praying) we would amble past some food establishment as we had not eaten all day and were famished!–and we did!Don’t get me wrong–were grateful, but we pony-upped for nearly thirty smackers for two small green salads, a small container of hummus, and a small bag of crackers. I know!!
My jaw “might” have dropped–I mean, we have just come from areas where we could get a full meal for two anywhere from $6-8 buckaroos. However, we devoured every morsel and enjoyed every crumb!
We found the hostel where we had made reservations, and entered and was immediately greeted with music, laughing, yelling, empty booze bottles, etc. Let me make a note here. . . . .this is an authentic hostel. Prior to this location, we have stayed in hostels but they were in name only. Honestly, they were low-budget motel/hotel rooms. Not so at Balmers. Not only is it HUGE, but it is like a mammoth maze. with no rhyme or reason for the disjointed floor plan. Also, there is a bar, and restaurant on site that “could” be a bit noisy. Ha!
Honestly, we made a friend and had a wonderful conversation with “Brian.”
Here is where we started hiking. Oh!! IT GETS SO MUCH BETTER!!
The water is turquoise in color and SO CLEAR! It’s color comes from glacier “particles.”
Interlaken: A little piece of Paradise!

In reading Ricks Blog, I was glad to hear sad face Rick was able to get your double booked refund back….. if that wouldn’t have work, I figured you would pull out crazy face Sherry to get the job done….. 😜😜. Fortunately, no one at the hotel had to be subjected to that. ..
Love the great pictures…. Keep snapping.
