Getting To Davao! May 27, 2023May 27, 2023 WE DEPARTED AND.........WE ARRIVED!!!!! SOARING OVER THE DAVAO SKYLINE WE SURVIVED OUR 21-HOUR TREK TO THE PHILIPPINES. PHEW!!! Though we did doze on and off a bit during the flight, but as anticipated, we did not have an overabundance of energy to expend. Ya think?!!! As I recall, the term is “jet-lag,” though I do not think it is the “jet” that is lagged. Ha!DINNER FOR 16We were greeted and welcomed by Lois Lewis, the director of the midwifery center and the school, who escorted us to their home where we were introduced to husband Greg, and their beautiful clan of 5. We had the privilege of sharing the dinner meal with Lois and family in addition to friends, Cale and Danelle with their 5 children in-tow. It was the Brady-Bunch plus!Strangely, I had a sense of connection and belonging which I never would have anticipated so early in this venture. Fun was indeed, had by all (except Rick and I were nearly comatose by 6:30pm) Ha!FAITH INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY The following day, we attended the end-of-the-school program for the Lewis family’s children FAITH INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY, followed by an informative tour of our new abode for two months, with instructions for care while the family would be out of the country. SWEET HOME, DAVAOLater that afternoon, we were picked up for an Italian get-to-know-you dinner with second year midwife students and instructors. It was a beautiful overture—gifting us with an opportunity to get to know some of the folks I will be interfacing with at the maternity center. I am deeply grateful for the many ways Greg and Lois have gone so far beyond the call of duty to make our plunge into another world and culture seamless. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, "MILO" He is the resident watch dog–if anybody dares to enter said gate, Milo will give whomever a “liken.” Ha! Author: Sherry Gregory Uncategorized

Do they serve Italian food at an “Italian get-to-know-you dinner” or is that just a phrase for large family get together? If it’s an all you can eat pizza and pasta meal then maybe I could survive the Philippine cuisine….. there is always the local Burger King I guess…… Does Milo go for runs with you guys?Glad everything worked out for you guys ….. eventually. Without hiccups, where would the adventure be? 😜Reply
