TO ROME WITH LOVE October 11, 2022April 25, 2023 FIRST CLICK on the photo–THEN CLICK ON ARROW in upper left corner TO SEE THE FULL IMPACT.Where do I even begin? Before you even realize what is occurring, Rome gets under your skin. You may fight this with snarky thoughts about having to stomp through hordes of people at each and every tourist site, chronic annoyance with the inability to get from one-place-to-another in a timely manner, inflated prices that “wiggle” because you are not Italian (no poker faces here), going off-map and failing to find a local who will help you find your way. . . Say what you will, throw any Rome-related frustration at me, and I will probably smile and respond with, “I heart Rome.” And I do! CLICK ON PHOTO TO ENLARGETHE TREVI FOUNTAIN stands 85 feet tall and nearly 65 feet wide.It splashes out 2,824,800 cubic feet of water every day. 3,000 euros tossed over shoulders into the fount daily (this will secure your return to Rome). A second coin thrown is for love and the third–wedding bells! Rome is laden with character—from the music which compels you to swoon, the language which contains every cadence and intonation imaginable, to hand-kneaded pasta draped over racks for drying, lightly boiled, and dolloped with a garlic, spicy marinara, covered with vine-ripe tomatoes, garden basil, and bubbling with melted French-churned gouda, and of course. . . the dessert, I mean the bread—Fresh from the oven, fragrance that is wrapped in a crust that requires an ambitious “chew,” slathered with locally-pressed olive oil and dark, aged, balsamic vinegar dripping down your elbow. I mean. . .YUMMO! CITY OF LOVELike every other city we have journeyed, we found beauty and joy—while pocketing remembrances which have shaped us and have definitely enlarged our world. For every part, of every experience, we are deeply grateful. Enjoy BEAUTIFUL Roma—where I left my heart. Your writing is as amazing as the pictures. I’m thinking of the song “Three coins in the fountain, each one seeking happiness. Thrown by three hopeful lovers. Which one will the fountain bless?” Sung by ole blue eyes, and the movie with hunky Louis Jourdan. 🙂Reply
